In a recent Parliamentary Written Question and Answer, John Healey MP inquired about the Ministry of Defence’s intentions for a third round of bids for funding from the International Fund for Ukraine.
James Heappey MP, Minister of State for the Ministry of Defence and Minister for the Armed Forces, confirmed that a third round focusing on maritime and air defence capabilities will be launched shortly.
The information emerged through the following Parliamentary Written Question and Answer.
John Healey (Labour – Wentworth and Dearne):
“To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether he plans a third round for bids for funding from the International Fund for Ukraine.”
James Heappey (Minister of State, Ministry of Defence & Minister for the Armed Forces):
“A third International Fund for Ukraine bidding round, focused on maritime and air defence capabilities, will be launched shortly.”
Typo! You mean ‘supply’.
😂
Wonder whether this could be funded from the UK foreign aid budget, however titled? 🤔
Given the hundreds of Billions of Dollars Russia has frozen in Western banks, that would be my choice. Tell Putin that every month the war in Ukraine goes on, 2% of that frozen money gets given to Ukraine. Gives Putin a reason to cut short the war, rather than drag it out, hoping the West tires in supporting Ukraine.
👍. May well incentivize Mad Vlad’s behavior. However, a 50 month implementation period could create an extended timeframe of continuing death and destruction in UKR. Would recommend doubling or tripling the penalty rate.
Anybody give anymore explanation as to what this is and what it does?
Is this a fund the U.K. puts up that any defence companies can bid on?
Could be a good way to get cheaper ex Soviet style weapons to Ukraine?
I think anyone waving cash at ex Soviet operators like North Korea etc could get what they want.
