Lockheed Martin has been awarded a modification to a previously awarded contract, valued at up to $11.76 billion, for the production and delivery of 145 F-35 aircraft. This contract includes a significant number of F-35 aircraft for international partners, as well as non-U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) programme participants and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

The contract modification includes the delivery of 48 F-35A aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, 16 F-35B and five F-35C aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps, and 14 F-35C aircraft for the U.S. Navy.

A total of 39 F-35A and seven F-35B aircraft are allocated for FMS customers.

“Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas (57%); El Segundo, California (14%); Warton, United Kingdom (9%); Cameri, Italy (4%); Orlando, Florida (4%); Nashua, New Hampshire (3%); Baltimore, Maryland (3%); San Diego, California (2%); Nagoya, Japan (2%); and various locations outside the continental U.S. (2%),” the notice stated.

The contract modification also includes tooling support for the governments of Italy and Japan’s final assembly and check-out facilities, reinforcing the international collaboration involved in the F-35 programme.

The contract, expected to be completed by June 2027, will be funded with fiscal 2024 aircraft procurement funds from the U.S. Air Force, Navy, non-U.S. DOD program partners, and FMS customers. At the time of award, a total of $2.51 billion in aircraft procurement funds will be allocated to the U.S. Air Force, $2.04 billion to the U.S. Navy, $816.35 million to non-U.S. DOD program partners, and $2.01 billion to FMS customers.

The contract was not subject to competition and was awarded to Lockheed Martin by the Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland. This contract, say the U.S. DCSA, is a vital part of ongoing international cooperation in the development and delivery of advanced aircraft for NATO partners and global security allies.

      • If I may add to my earlier post.

        Can we have

The ability to show Sentiment (like/ or dislike or agree/disagree)
A profile of the user, history, area of expertise/experience in the past or active today?
Propensity, Community Participation, a Recency / Frequency, Page Views, the ability to post a link as reference/citation. The ability to directly address a particular comment as you can in Disqus. This stops huge trees forming where a direct reply 10 posts down does not get lost?
The ability to edit a post hours after with the function to see whst the original post was (the platforms I posted above lets you do that).
IntenseDebate allows you to have in screen/on forum YouTube videos, links open in site which means users do not have to leave the site to view articles you link or reference that you haven’t or do not want to write an article for yourselves. This opens referral clicks from your site to revenue opportunities while the user remains firmly on UKDJ.
You can list the comments as most recent, most popular, highest rated or another three metrics.
The new additions also increase your revenue opportunities. You could directly link approved/ideal suppliers and causes (example Help for Heroes ship that gives your site a commission on spend etc).
Both IntenseDebateand Viaflours allows you to post once, post multiples. In other words, once you have linked your X, Facebook, Instagram. TikTok and other SM accounts to UKDJ site, you only have to post once with your keywords and they both post on your other SM sites automatically. This alone should cut down the amount of work you have to do just to post a single story across various platforms. The platforms that have the most functionality are: Viafoura, IntenseDebate, Disqus or OpenWeb.

Have a Merry Christmas George, Lisa and Team. Merry Christmas to my fellow UKDJ posters too.
