A Derbyshire company that designs and builds professional radio accessories has been appointed to a government framework for tactical communications worth an estimated £727 million in its lot, according to JUMA Communications.

The appointment covers Lot 3 of the Government Commercial Agency’s RM6393 Tactical Communication Systems framework, which lets eligible public sector bodies buy specialised tactical communication and information systems from approved suppliers. Police forces, fire and rescue services, ambulance trusts and search and rescue organisations are among those able to use it alongside defence customers.

Being on the framework gives JUMA the right to compete for work until 25 September 2029, with individual contracts awarded through call-off competitions during that period. The company is explicit that inclusion guarantees no revenue, which is the usual position on arrangements of this kind and worth stating given how often framework appointments are reported as though they were orders.

Andrew McLachlan, managing director of JUMA Communications, said: “Being named as a supplier on the GCA framework is an important milestone for JUMA. Our team has decades of experience in supplying and developing professional communications accessories for demanding operational environments.”

The firm designs and manufactures its own range of radio accessories and distributes products from specialist manufacturers including OTTO Communications.
