In response to the recent suspension of arms export licences to Israel, Minister of State for Defence, Maria Eagle, has reassured that the F-35 programme will remain unaffected.

Eagle stated, “Military and industrial participation in the F35 programme will not be affected by the decision to suspend some exports licenses to Israel.”

She reinforced the government’s unwavering commitment to national and allied security, asserting, “This Government has an unwavering commitment to the security not just of this country but to our allies around the world. The global F35 programme has a broader strategic role in NATO, our support for Ukraine, and the capability of our allies.”

Eagle explained that, “In this context, with a view to ensuring international peace and security, the Government took the decision to exclude exports to the global F35 programme from the suspension decision, except where going direct to Israel.”

This statement comes after the UK government announced a suspension of around 30 arms export licences to Israel, particularly for military operations in Gaza. The suspension follows a comprehensive review assessing Israel’s compliance with international humanitarian law, which highlighted a clear risk that certain military exports could be misused.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy has stated that the decision does not alter the UK’s steadfast support for Israel’s right to self-defence.

  1. Fudge in the highest order. Pointless. Hopefully they signalled to Israel we will do something but minimal and will help us shut up muslim voices in this. How did the UK a Christian country end up with 3M Muslims now, and we have the Muslim tail wagging the dog as they had a large say in Labour coming into power.

    • Hi DRS, nowadays people don’t really speak out for fear of being labelled racist and far right obviously all to do with our past exploits, I’m no racist but immigration worries me the way it’s going with people coming here with a different way of thinking to the home population, it doesn’t seem to be working at any level but it seems the home population will be hung out to dry whilst groups of extremists can go about shouting about hating the country and they get a stern warning which is a shit show, somethings probably going to happen here again at sometime and the powers that be will still do nothing unfortunately.

    • Don’t worry, your weapons are still reliably killing children, the disabled and elderly, day in day out, with your tacit approval.

I’m sure your loving Christian god looks on with admiration.

  2. There’s no ban on F-35 exports to Israel because the UK understands that if it introduced such a ban its entire security relationship with the US would be jeopardized.
