NATO exercise planning experts worked together as part of the Maritime Exercise Working Group (MEWG) during a two-day meeting at Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) headquarters in Northwood to review, coordinate and synchronise maritime exercises.
NATO state that the meeting served to review contributions and participations for the period 2019/2020 and also to set the initial plan for the medium/long term planning, up to 2024.
“The participants work together to garner mutual support to conduct multi-national exercises, encouraging NATO and Partner navies to take an active role in NATO exercises.
Approximately 35 participants from NATO Headquarters, High Readiness Naval Forces, National Navies and Partner Navies have attended the MEWG to find linkages, explore national and NATO training opportunities and promote new ways to conduct challenging training and exercises.”
MARCOM is the operational command of all NATO maritime forces. Like its land and air counterparts (LANDCOM & AIRCOM), MARCOM reports directly to NATO’s Allied Command Operations (ACO), but also works closely with Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to advocate for maritime capabilities and initiatives, say the alliance.
Nope ! LOL
They would have at least occupied some decent hotel rooms during the visit so we get something out of this.
There is a lot more than Admirals at Northwood.
All the armed forces commands have been culled of 1* and above. Including the RN.
Great to see the Gosport Ferry Keeping up.
