A British Army Reserve base in Cambuslang, Glasgow will be handed over to European Union peacekeepers.
It is understood that the European peacekeeping force will assist in dealing with issues relating to Brexit.
The UK and the European Union signed the agreement earlier today in order to “enhance cooperation and strengthen collective response in peace operations and crisis management”.
The ‘Framework Agreement Between the United Kingdom and the European Union for the Provision of Mutual Support in the context of their respective missions and operations in the field‘ was signed by the EU Under-Secretary for Operational Support, Reid Karefullei.
“The Agreement will facilitate operational alignment and enhance complementarity between EU and UK Government field missions in the areas of logistics, medical, and security support. In particular, this Agreement will enable expanding co-operation in operational support services by building mutual understanding of our respective procedures and structures for the planning and execution of logistics support in missions and operations in the field.”
The Army Reserve centre in Cambuslang is currently home to 154 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps which is an Army Reserve Regiment that provides transport support to the British Army. They are the only Logistic Regiment in Scotland and have a number of squadrons across the central belt of the country.
Congraulations and thank you for reading the whole article, this is just an April Fools Day joke. The article above is not true and if anyone is sharing this after the 1st of April, please do remind them of that fact.
The purpose of this article, aside from our usual April Fools day joke, is to make the point that reading beyond the headline should be the norm every day, not just on the 1st of April. There’s a large volume of misinformation online, make sure you don’t add to it by sharing articles without reading them. Finally, be careful of the person sharing this article after the 1st of April as they very clearly don’t read what they share.
Why tell everyone it’s a joke? I would have loved to see the daft comments!
Reid Karefullie indeed 👍😂
That’s a proper red rag April fools, your going for some real political and geopolitical hot potato’s today.
interestingly I can see a time when something like this may just occur as we do allow allies bases in the UK for strategic and geopolitical reasons and one day the EU may specifically be a member of NATO…We know that the EU is heading down a path of political integration…it’s why many voted to leave the EU and accept an economic hit ( not saying the right or wrong or leave/remain….that was always personal opinion and there are balances on both sides….yes….shock….there was never actually a right or wrong answer, it was simply a “pick your road” question not a “right or wrong” answer question).
Was that an April Fools comment. I couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of all the EU countries agreeing on military action – even something as mundane as a peacekeeping force. The day any country relinquishes military control is the day that country dies and turns into a glorified parish council.😂
But that’s what some European politicians want, it’s what you get when the political classes of nations have more in common that the people they rule.
Some will not cut it. You would need the vast majority in every single EU Country. Would the people of Poland, for example, be confident that the EU would provide a timely response. The response from varioius countries to the issue with Ukraine has been mixed. That is merely a reflexion of the differing attitudes of people across Europe.
This is really good news, it will be safe to walk the streets again😎
The Kingdom of Northumbria stands ready to repel these interlopers!
As does the mighty Kingdom of Cumbria. We are ready with our pitch forks, 50,000 rounds of Cumberland sausage to hurl at the invaders and 20,000 tons of Kendal mint cake. The mint cake we intend to force feed the interlopers with until they get such a sugar buzz they either feel sick or have to scurry back to Europe by swimming across the North Sea just to use up the energy.👍
Spoken like a true patriot! Or so the Doctors tell me.
The Kingdom of the East Angles has suffered numerous defence cuts, losing RAF Coltshall, Bentwaters & Woodbridge as well as our Bloodhound SAM batteries, but most importantly a short sighted lack of sea defences. This can only be remidied by the future Sonic the Hypersonic hedgehog misile.
😆
This is a complete misunderstanding. The base will be used to house migrants who have peacefully crossed the channel from the EU post-Brexit. The government want to scare migrants away and figure reports of damp, mould-infested housing with busted heating might achieve that.
So they are putting the migrants up in your average social housing/ low income housing then?
No, just in your average army barracks. The only difference is that the soldiers paid rent to live in shoddy conditions!
Fooled me, but with our current EU compliant politicians it would be no surprise if it were true. It might as well be !
I read another April Fools article that claimed the UK Government was going import millions of foreigners and give them protected group status under a new set of laws they call ‘DIE policy’.
Yes the EU troops were French and upon arrival they immediately surrendered.
Its no joke that PM Cameron helped set up an EU command and control centre at RAF Northolt. This was to be the last requirement for the EU to declare statehood under the Montivideo Convention. It may have been removed post Brexit. But who can say?
