A 15-year-old boy from Market Drayton, Shropshire, has been sentenced after stockpiling weapons and researching terrorist attacks, according to Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands.
The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, was arrested in November 2024 following a counter-terrorism investigation. Searches of his home uncovered crossbows, a butterfly knife, a baton and a stun gun. Investigators also found attacker manifestos, violent extremist material, and videos showing him holding weapons marked with the names of bombers and shooters. Messages discussing homemade explosives were also recovered.
He admitted offences including possession of a manifesto useful for committing or preparing terrorism, unlawful possession of weapons, and having a stun gun. In May, he entered guilty pleas, and on 29 August he was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to 18 months’ detention with a further year on licence.
Detective Chief Superintendent Alison Hurst, head of Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU, said: “The work carried out by the investigators is to be commended; this was a dangerous individual who had amassed weapons, was viewing horrific material online and preparing to carry out an attack.”
Chief Superintendent Mo Lansdale, Local Policing Commander for Shropshire and Telford, added: “We absolutely understand the concern cases such as this can cause in our local communities and I hope the early intervention and positive action in this case reassures local residents.”
Police stressed that the case highlighted the risks of young people being exposed to extremist material online and urged the public to report suspicious activity. “Reporting won’t ruin lives, but it could save them,” Counter Terrorism Policing stated.

I’m not at all sure that this helpful messaging.
Police like tagging things as ‘terrorism’ as it makes them feel important and that is where budgets are.
The can now say, in full comedy thick copper, that they have prevented a terror attack.
From the court reports there wasn’t any actual attack planned.
Police need a lot of powers, stemming from very broadly & badly drafted catch all laws, stripped away from them. I’d accept that legislation is a governmental issue and not a police issue.
I suspect he was like a lot of 15 year old boys, obsessed with weopons for weopons sake. Clearly no plot was uncovered and I am very sceptical about what the police now call extreme material given they think it takes 5 coppers to arrest a comedian saying women should protect themselves in toilets when men are in there dressed as women (with a punch to the balls). No please arrest me as I’m just quoting what he said.
I’d tend to agree.
If you look at the definition of ‘extreme material’ some of the chemistry text books I have on my shelves would qualify as they explain how to make various things.
It is all about ridiculously broadly drawn legislation that is being abused to keep ‘anti terrorism’ units busy.
100% agree
I want to know if this boy was in a Muslim family or was an illegal immigrant. why is that information not given??
Why? So you can use it as an example of why immigrants need to be something or othered?
Read the BBC article entitled “Detained ‘Nazi’ teen discussed ‘shooting up’ schools”. It indicates pretty clearly what went on.
Interesting- I hadn’t seen that.
Can you share a link?
Not without vanishing into the moderation rabbit hole !!!
There’s more on the BBC.
Try “Detained ‘Nazi’ teen discussed ‘shooting up’ schools”.
There had also been a previous seizure of weapons.
Probably not. But I can try!
