Boeing subsidiary Tapestry Solutions is introducing artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to accelerate U.S. military transportation planning, according to the company.
The software, known as the Transportation Intelligence Environment (TIE), is designed to improve the speed and accuracy of planning how aircraft and ships are loaded for missions. Boeing stated that the system responds to the demands of increasingly contested logistics environments, where the U.S. Department of Defense is seeking greater agility and responsiveness.
According to the company, TIE uses historical records and transport documentation to create a searchable database for AI and ML services. These capabilities are delivered through web services and APIs, allowing for integration into different applications. Prototype tools include a Cargo Assistant that helps enter and validate cargo data, a Free Query application for generating custom reports on an interactive map, and a Help Chat agent to support users with training and information.
Debbie Churchill, president and CEO of Tapestry Solutions, said in the company’s announcement: “TIE represents a major step forward in how we support military transportation planning. By harnessing AI and machine learning, we’re helping the Defense Transportation System become faster, smarter and more agile in meeting today’s complex challenges.”
Boeing reported that demonstrations of the prototype applications have received strong customer interest, leading to funding for production capabilities. The U.S. government has already selected eight of the nine experimental AI and ML tools for full development, with deployment planned for June 2026.
The UK Defence Journal understands that the initiative builds on Tapestry’s existing Integrated Computerised Deployment System (ICODES), which supports U.S. military and allied operations by managing cargo movement across air and sea platforms.
Boeing needs to apply quality and good workmanship first. Ever since the Engineers were replaced by Accountants, the company has had trouble in every sector it operates.
This is excellent news and exciting at the same time. It can’t be long before we see this sort of AI tech coupled with Drone delivery systems coming to a toilet near you soon. All we’ll need to do is take a seat, relax and the rest will be done automatically.
*Job Done*.
