According to a press release, the U.S. State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to the Government of the Czech Republic for Hellfire Missiles and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems, along with related logistics and program support, totaling an estimated cost of $138.26 million.

The Czech Republic’s request includes 200 Hellfire Air-to-Ground Missiles (AGM-114R), four Hellfire Captive Air Training Missiles, and 600 WGU-59A/B Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems II.

Additionally, the sale will include support equipment, dummy cartridge rounds, containers, training material, inert components, publications, repair of repairables, and training and technical support.

The U.S. State Department stated, “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.”

The sale is seen as a move to enhance the Czech Republic’s defence capabilities, strengthen its homeland defence, and deter regional threats, according to the department.

The deal includes major contracts with Lockheed Martin, based in Orlando, FL, and BAE Systems, Inc., located in Nashua, NH.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification, notifying Congress of this possible sale and underscoring its significance.
