Streets remain closed in Glasgow as a precautionary search is underway following the bomb squad removing a “suspicious item” from a flat in the city.

Authorities responded to the incident on Petershill Road in the Springburn district of the city shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, April 17.

Road closures were implemented in the vicinity, and residents were evacuated as a precaution.

The item was removed from the flat on Monday by a Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

The twenty-six people evacuated after a bomb disposal team was called to a Glasgow street on Monday are still not allowed to return to their properties.

Police confirmed further searches are taking place in the area, and four roads remain closed as can be seen in the above footage. It is understood that, according to Police Scotland, the additional searches are a “precautionary measure”.

A spokesperson said:

“A cordon remains in place and we would ask people to avoid the area.”

A man has appeared in court charged with an alleged ‘explosives offence’ following the incident in Glasgow, reported the Glasgow Times.

“Christopher Scarr, 50, made no plea or declaration at Glasgow Sherriff Court today. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court again within the next eight days.”

  1. The weeg 😂 they are the bestest Po,Po on the planet got helicopters and everything 😂

  2. If the bomb goes off and destroys a number of houses, roads and public buildings, estate agents are concerned that house prices may rise due to the “blast improvement scheme”……

    • A bit like the centre of Manchester when it was bull redeveloped by our Irish friends?

It was horrendous at the time and thankfully nobody was killed but it did lead to a massive regeneration scheme which injected momentum into the city we see now.

      • Agreed, it was actually placed inside, or just next to M&S on Corporation street (my memory fades) exactly where my mum used to work as a supervisor…..in fact it blew up a window display my dad had prepped for mums work. Lucky no-one was killed, but due to the code word system of the day we had with the Provos, it was known to be a real threat and the plod were past masters of evacuation at that time. Cheers.
