The Ministry of Defence has awarded a £12 million framework agreement to Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) for the repair and overhaul of fire suppression systems and related equipment across multiple British Army vehicle platforms.
The contract, published on 29 July 2025, covers essential support to the Challenger 2 main battle tank, CRARRV, Titan and Trojan armoured engineer vehicles, Warrior infantry fighting vehicles, Bulldog, CVR(T), the battlefield recovery vehicle (BRV), and the Terrier combat engineering platform.
Awarded via Babcock Land Defence Ltd (BLDL), acting as the MoD’s agent, the work will take place at RBSL’s Telford site.
The contract was let under the negotiated procedure without prior publication, justified by the original equipment manufacturer’s exclusive rights to technical specifications and proof-testing requirements. According to the notice, French firm L’Hotellier holds the technical intellectual property and has designated RBSL as its sole UK agent.
The agreement will ensure the continued availability of critical fire suppression systems installed on key combat and support vehicles, improving survivability and safety for British Army personnel.
CR2? Why are they not going straight to converting them to CR3.
Can we get the MOD orders for paper and pens , that is about as much buying they have done in last year, loads contracts but no new kit,
This does not show much confidence in Babcock DSG who used to carry out this work. Challenger 2 FM 200 fixed systems are the most dangerous if correct procedure is not followed when installing and removing for inspection and weight check, their have been some fingers redesigned !
