The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has announced a tender for the procurement and support of a Link 16 Network Monitoring and Management System and a Joint Range Extension Applications Protocol (JREAP) Network Monitoring System, according to a recent tender notice.

The contract, valued between £1 million and £6 million, spans a duration of two years from 7 August 2025 to 6 August 2027.

The tender submission deadline is set for 31 July 2024.

The project aims to enhance the monitoring and enforcement of the Frequency Clearance Agreement (FCA) between the MOD and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The new system will display Link 16 messages and emissions transmitted by platforms during operations and exercises, identify areas where the use of Link 16 is restricted, and alert operators if these areas are impinged upon.

In addition to the Link 16 system, the JREAP Network Monitoring System will analyse Link 16 information flow from Satellite Tactical Datalinks, aiding the Joint Data Link Monitoring Organisation (JDLMO) in data analysis.

The equipment will be installed at up to eight sites across the UK, providing complete airspace coverage. This includes two network management systems and up to six remote terminal components.

Additionally, a deployable Network Management System will be required to support two concurrent deployments.

The MOD considers this contract suitable for small or medium enterprises (SMEs). The cyber risk level for the project has been assessed as low. Interested parties can find further details on the Find a Tender service.

Interesting. Assume the 8 sites already host ASCS infrastructure, be they RRH, at CRC or bigger sites like at the NADOC, where I recall JDLMO was, or smaller comms sites.
So amongst Portreath, Benbecula, Buchan, Boulmer, Brizlee Wood, Staxton, Neatishead, Naphill, Weybourne, Anthony, and a few other little places.
Deployable side with 1 ACC?
