BAE Systems has announced that its donations to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) have reached a significant milestone of £1 million. According to the company, BAE Systems has been supporting the charity since its establishment in 2007.
The RNRMC is the principal charity of the Royal Navy, providing support to current and former personnel of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Royal Fleet Auxiliary, as well as their families.
The charity’s initiatives benefited over 60,000 serving personnel, veterans, and their families last year alone.
BAE Systems has played a crucial role in supporting various RNRMC projects, including employability and resettlement programs to help personnel transition to civilian life, sports projects, and employee-led fundraising activities. The company also sponsors significant events such as the RNRMC Trafalgar Night Dinner and the Heroes Cycle Challenge.
Glynn Phillips, Managing Director of BAE Systems Maritime and Land, expressed pride in reaching the £1 million donation mark. He stated, “At BAE Systems, we work every day to protect and equip the men and women of our armed forces, and we’re privileged to continue that support for sailors, marines, and their families through our relationship with the RNRMC. We are proud to reach the £1 million figure and look forward to continuing our important work together.”
Andrew Jameson, Chief Executive of the RNRMC, highlighted the impact of this milestone. He remarked, “Surpassing the £1 million milestone in donations from BAE Systems marks a momentous achievement, highlighting the extraordinary impact of our partnership in supporting the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families. We couldn’t begin to do what we do without the backing of our corporate partners. To reach this milestone is a testament to our close working relationship with BAE Systems.”
Since its inception in 2007, the RNRMC has distributed over £100 million to various organisations and charities that support serving personnel, children, families, and veterans. According to the company, BAE Systems’ contributions are part of its broader charitable efforts, which last year alone saw the company donate over £11.2 million to support local communities, education, and the armed forces through sponsorships, donations, employee fundraising, and volunteering.
