The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the planned out-of-service dates for several British Army armoured engineering and support vehicles, outlining how long core elements of the fleet are expected to remain in use.
In a written parliamentary answer, Defence Minister Luke Pollard provided a breakdown of current timelines covering Terrier, Titan and Trojan, alongside two additional platforms. According to the table published by the department, Terrier vehicles are now expected to remain in service until 2043, while Titan is scheduled to retire in 2032 and Trojan in 2040. Stormer, previously due to leave service in 2026, has had its lifespan extended to 2028, while the Fuchs fleet is set to reach its out-of-service date in 2029.
Pollard stressed that these dates are not fixed and remain subject to ongoing review. “OSDs are continuously reviewed to ensure that the British Army has the capabilities it requires to deliver against Defence commitments,” he said.
Terrier is expected to remain the backbone of armoured engineer operations well into the 2040s, while Titan bridge layers and Trojan armoured engineer vehicles are planned to support heavy formations through the remainder of the next decade and beyond. The Ministry of Defence has not yet outlined replacement programmes for Titan or Trojan, with future decisions likely to sit within the forthcoming Defence Investment Plan and wider Army modernisation efforts.

Ahh, I remember when It was the Expected, then the Promised, then Delayed, then delayed again, then expected later in the year, then at the end of the year, then early In the new Year, then sometime soon towards the Spring.
Might be better putting It off till the 2030’s when everything else Is supposed to happen.
( I love Donald Trump, He’s the bestest !!!) 😁
I don’t think that his demands to ENATO to spend more have hit home enough with our government yet. One of the things I can agree with him on.
It’s been a worry for many years to my mind, a part of me was encouraged by the closer ties that European states were making and the Idea of a European Force also made a lot of sense, It makes more sense now that Forrest Trump has gone all God mode !
Then again, Britain has history when It comes to Going It Alone and to be honest, we can do It again given the right leadership.
Christ, there I go all serious like again ! 😱😅😅
Just catching up here before another little road trip.
Titan and Trojan, essential but often forgotten armoured Engineering assets. These need to be ring fenced in any future procurement with the mine clearance warrior drone concept.
There were rumours they would be binned, so good that the Army has confirmed a MLU for Trojan.
I hope Titan follows in due course, the reports it would be replaced by an expensive Boxer derivative with a shorter Bridge span were not encouraging.
Fuchs is only used by F ( Falcon ) Squadron of the RTR, attached to the 28RE, the CBRN Regiment, and I assume Patria might replace that given the OOS 2029 time frame.
Just gone back to the MLU announcement,it says both Titan & Trojan in the tender.

Ah, splendid mate.
There was a proposal when VSEL got the BR 90 contract that they could fit Titan with a Leguan type bridge instead of the scissors(10)and over the top(11) types.nothing came of it the time now who knows!
We should build them and sell them to America, they have some bridges to build now !
