A joint venture between the German firm Quantum Systems and Ukraine’s Frontline Robotics has won a follow-on contract from the National Guard of Ukraine and is preparing to increase production fivefold next year, according to Quantum Frontline Industries.
The contract covers Linza multi-purpose drones and Zoom reconnaissance drones, both designed by Frontline Robotics against requirements written from operational experience, and exceeds the volume of the 2026 agreement that preceded it. It was signed by Matthias Lehna, a vice president at Quantum Systems, and Pavlo Kosolapkin, chief technology officer and co-founder of Frontline Robotics, with Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko, the commander of the National Guard.
Mr Lehna, who is also managing director of the joint venture, said: “QFI was established with a clear objective: to combine Ukrainian engineering and operational experience with German industrial capacity and scale.”
Mr Kosolapkin said: “A follow-on order is one of the strongest validations a defence technology can receive.”
Major General Pivnenko said expanding production in Germany gives Ukraine access to additional capacity while keeping Ukrainian technology and operational experience at the core of the product.
Established under the Build with Ukraine initiative, the company describes itself as the first European-Ukrainian defence-industrial joint venture. The model it represents has become one of the more consequential developments of the war, since it moves manufacturing westward out of range of Russian strikes on Ukrainian industry while keeping design authority with the people who have been using the equipment in combat.
