BAE Systems has been awarded a $188.5 million (£150 million) full-rate production contract by the United States Marine Corps to supply 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV) armed with a 30mm cannon, the company confirmed on 29 April 2025.
The contract—part of production Lot 5/6—includes support for fielding, spare parts and test equipment.
The ACV-30 variant integrates a remotely operated 30mm medium calibre turret, procured separately by the US government and installed at the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic. Designed to combine troop transport capability with enhanced direct firepower, the vehicle offers improved protection and lethality for amphibious and land-based operations.
“The ACV is tested and proven to be incredibly adaptable – it not only swims, but it’s also optimised for ship-to-shore, island-hopping, and advanced land operations,” said Rebecca McGrane, Vice President of Amphibious Programmes at BAE Systems. “With enhanced direct-fire lethality via the 30mm fully stabilised weapon system, the ACV-30 helps to ensure Marines are ready for any mission, land or sea.”
BAE Systems is also under contract to produce the ACV-Personnel (ACV-P) variant, capable of carrying 13 fully equipped Marines and a crew of three, and the ACV-Command (ACV-C) variant, which provides multiple onboard workstations for command and control functions. Additionally, the company is building three test vehicles of the ACV-Recovery (ACV-R) variant, intended to support front-line repair, maintenance and recovery operations for Marine amphibious units.
Work on the ACV-30mm vehicles will be conducted across BAE Systems facilities in York and Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Charleston, South Carolina, with deliveries scheduled through to the third quarter of 2026.
