In a recent press release, BAE Systems announced the signing of a contract worth up to €42 million with Tatra Defense Vehicle of the Czech Republic.

The contract pertains to the welding, paint, and installation of hull insulation for BvS10 vehicles as part of the Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV-3N) programme, involving the militaries of Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

According to the press release, the BvS10 is a highly mobile, all-terrain armoured vehicle designed for extreme conditions and challenging terrain. This vehicle has been selected for the CATV-3N program, which aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the participating nations.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, president of BAE Systems Hägglunds, was quoted in the press release stating, “Collaborating with Tatra Defense Vehicle allows us to leverage its advanced production technologies while supporting the integration of the Czech defense industry into our global supply chain. This contract is evidence of our mutual trust in Tatra Defense Vehicle, and we expect it to bring many more opportunities for both parties.”

The contract includes 250 new BvS10 vehicles, with an option for an additional 274 units. These vehicles cover both front and rear carriages for various mission configurations, from armoured transporters to ambulances. Prototype production is set to begin this summer, with serial production planned for the end of 2025.

Tomáš Mohapl, CEO of Tatra Defense Vehicle, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, saying, “This contract represents a significant step for Tatra Defense Vehicle and the entire CSG consortium. We are proud that we can showcase our expertise and capabilities on an international scale and further develop our strategic relationship with BAE Systems Hägglunds.”

The press release underscores that this contract builds on the pre-existing relationship between the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) of companies and BAE Systems Hägglunds. It also strengthens the ties between Swedish and Czech defense industries. BAE Systems noted that this collaboration is expected to yield additional business opportunities, enhancing the integration of Czech industry into their global supply chain.
