BAE Systems Hägglunds has begun working with Knightec Group Brazil on military vehicle component manufacturing in Resende, Rio de Janeiro, as part of a pilot programme to transfer technology and expand engineering capability, the company stated.

The collaboration will see Knightec Group Brazil provide engineering expertise to BAE Systems’ supply chain, drawing on its automotive sector experience. The initial focus is on developing conceptual designs for gear housings for the BvS10 all-terrain vehicle, with an emphasis on reducing production costs and improving performance.

The pilot programme is intended to support future production scaling, following recent BvS10 contract successes in multiple countries. It also aims to establish processes that could enable more complex design work and increased production capacity over time, according to the company.

Lars Pettersson, engineering director at BAE Systems Hägglunds, said: “We are excited to work with Knightec Group in Brazil. By establishing shared ways of working and aligned processes early on, we aim to create a solid foundation that will not only support future growth but also enable the ongoing development of more complex designs as our programme evolves.”

Fabricio Campos, country manager at Knightec Group Brazil, said: “This collaboration represents more than a single opportunity — it is about building local industrial capability, strengthening engineering competence, and supporting the development of a sustainable defence ecosystem in the country. Together, we are laying the groundwork for long-term growth and future programmes in Brazil.”
