The Ministry of Defence has confirmed plans to train over 40,000 Ukrainian personnel by the end of 2024 under Operation Interflex.

This information was revealed in response to a parliamentary question posed by John Healey, the Shadow Secretary of State for Defence.

Healey inquired, “How many Ukrainian personnel his Department plans to train under Operation Interflex by the end of 2024?” The question reflects ongoing concerns and interest in the UK’s support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Leo Docherty, the Minister of State for the Armed Forces, provided a clear response, stating, “Working with our partners to meet Ukraine’s training requirements, it is estimated that Operation INTERFLEX will have trained more than 40,000 Ukrainian personnel by the end of 2024.” He further emphasised the UK’s commitment, adding, “The UK is committed to working with partners to meet Ukraine’s training requirements now and in the future.”

Operation Interflex aims to bolster the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces through comprehensive training programs. This effort is part of the broader international support for Ukraine, providing essential skills and knowledge to Ukrainian troops to enhance their operational effectiveness.
