Saab has secured a SEK 1.8 billion order from the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of the Czech Republic for its Mobile Short Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) solution, according to a press release.
Deliveries are scheduled between 2028 and 2030.
The deal includes mobile firing units based on the RBS 70 NG short-range missile system and Bolide missiles. Saab will integrate these systems onto the MARS S-330 vehicle platform, which is manufactured by Czech firm SVOS.
The MSHORAD configuration ordered by the Czech Republic will feature a command-and-control system delivered jointly by a Czech partner and Saab, and will be paired with an existing third-party radar already in service with the Czech Armed Forces.
“We are proud to continue supporting the Czech Armed Forces’ capability, who already operate our RBS 70 NG air defence system in its man-portable setup,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics. “Our MSHORAD solution complements this with a highly mobile configuration, providing additional protection for troops on the move.”
According to Saab, the MSHORAD system is a modular, vehicle-integrated solution comprising radar units for detection, mobile firing units, and a command-and-control network. It can be delivered as a complete system or integrated with existing customer equipment.
Air defence is a critical need for the UK. It must be addressed.

Isn’t the UK meant to be getting something similar with the Vimac based MMx4 for its Shorad? It sure if its for Army or base protection. Any news on that?
Yes it’s called Rapid Ranger.
The news of that was ages ago, and I have not heard anything since which is par the course at how slow MoD move.
A small number were to be bought to replace the Stormers we gave to Ukraine, for use for Army SHORAD, so 12 RA.
It was speculated more might arrive as part of the “tripling” of Army SHORAD but again it has all gone quiet, with talk of either Rapid Ranger or some Boxer derivative used.
