NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
This expression of support from the head of the military alliance comes as Donald Trump continues tweeting that he won the election “by a lot” of votes.
The full statement from Jens Stoltenberg reads as follows:
“I warmly welcome the election of Joe Biden as the next President of the United States. I know Mr. Biden as a strong supporter of NATO and the transatlantic relationship.
US leadership is as important as ever in an unpredictable world, and I look forward to working very closely with President-elect Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and the new administration to further strengthen the bond between North America and Europe.
A strong NATO is good for North America and good for Europe. Together, NATO Allies represent almost one billion people, half of the world’s economic might and half of the world’s military might. We need this collective strength to deal with the many challenges we face, including a more assertive Russia, international terrorism, cyber and missile threats, and a shift in the global balance of power with the rise of China. We can only be secure and successful if we face these challenges together.”
What is NATO?
NATO is a security alliance of 30 countries from North America and Europe. NATO’s fundamental goal is to safeguard the Allies’ freedom and security by political and military means. NATO remains the principal security instrument of the transatlantic community and expression of its common democratic values. It is the practical means through which the security of North America and Europe are permanently tied together.
Article 5 of the Washington Treaty — that an attack against one Ally is an attack against all — is at the core of the Alliance, a promise of collective defense. Article 4 of the treaty ensures consultations among Allies on security matters of common interest, which have expanded from a narrowly defined Soviet threat to the critical mission in Afghanistan, as well as peacekeeping in Kosovo and new threats to security such as cyber attacks, and global threats such as terrorism and piracy that affect the Alliance and its global network of partners.
In addition to its traditional role in the territorial defense of Allied nations, NATO leads the UN-mandated International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan and has ongoing missions in the Balkans and the Mediterranean; it also conducts extensive training exercises and offers security support to partners around the globe, including the European Union in particular but also the United Nations and the African Union.
The election isn’t yet over and Joe Biden has not yet been confirmed President by the authorities. However much the media would like it, they don’t have this power. And, until litigation is complete the vote won’t be confirmed.
I find it strange NATO is prematurely jumping on this band wagon. What will happen if Donald Trump manages to identify enough fraudulent votes to rewrite the outcome?
“to identify enough fraudulent votes to rewrite the outcome”. Highly Very Unlikely!
George Bush has now congratulated Joe Biden.
stop watching cnn, recounts will find many hundreds of thousands of fraudulent ballots, you don’t need van loads of sandwiches for offices at 4am when they closed at 10pm, luckily a few less gullible conservative observers came back and found the offences were still open, people need to remember, what the left call anecdotes become evidence when you place your hand on a bible in a courtroom
Are these vanloads not mail-in ballots, ones that must be counted after Election Day and not before, thanks to the ruling of republicans?
David61 I didn’t think people like yourself could be that gullible, but then Trumpski supporters tend to be easily led, Recounts will not bring Trumpski to power again and the media are holding the US government to account ,like they should do.
According to legal experts (also republican) the litigation is not going to produce the results Trump hopes. Because of that congratulations to Biden are justified. Media too has to be realistic, and tell people where things are realistically heading, not promote someone’s personal dreams. Media has also clearly stated, that there’s a theoretical possibility that Trump might win, so media has done it’s work properly in that regard.
Well said Ademeion ,too many waky conspiracy theorists watching to much Youtube lol.
For once, the only sensible comment on the US election came from Putin’s spokesperson who explained to the MSM how the US election process works…
herewith a nice summary of how the election result works through the system:

Trump made waves at NATO, rightly demanding that chronic underspenders increase their budgets to the agreed minimum. So I guess he made a lot of people uncomfortable and some are relieved to see him gone.- probably. But it does seem a little odd since Trump has 10 weeks to go as President.
And suddenly external interference is good.
I bet NATO can’t wait for the American taxpayers to once again shoulder the overwhelming cost and manpower for NATO. God help America from creepy, old, dementia Joe and his leftists comrades. Ugh
I’m sure Joe Biden will do the right thing and sit in the middle and take the best idea’s from both sides and try and balance things
Trumpski supporters are easy to manipulate it seems ,thank god for so called MSM like most in the west news orgs are able to hold its governments to account.
And here we have a censor anti free speech supporter.
I’m for free speech , but people tend to go for the crazy conspiracy theories rather than the facts put to them, and you can not put me in the far laft group as my Politics tends to be center. Its very easy to find the people you want to side with on the internet, but as reality is showing they are not necessarily right. Trumpski lost ,even party members on his side have agreed he has lost.
Its the very easy gullible people who disagree and tend to be not that smart lol.
