The German Armed Forces Procurement Office has awarded QinetiQ Group plc a significant €284 million contract to provide Aerial Training Services (ATS) for the Bundeswehr, including the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Special Forces.

This ten-year contract, with an option for a two-year extension, marks the largest and longest award for QinetiQ’s Global Threat Representation business, according to a press release.

Under the ATS contract, QinetiQ will deliver a wide range of tailored services such as Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) training, Red Air training, close air support, maritime air operations, ground control intercept training, air traffic control training, and target towing for ground-based air defence systems.

These mission-critical training services will be conducted using QinetiQ’s enhanced fleet of eleven PC-9 and four PC-12 aircraft.

Steve Wadey, Group Chief Executive Officer of QinetiQ, highlighted the importance of the contract in today’s security climate.

“In the current heightened threat environment, the award of the Aerial Training Services contract demonstrates QinetiQ’s commitment to ensuring the German Armed Forces are always operationally ready for their missions. The contract will form a crucial part of our Global Threat Representation offering across all domains. We are very proud of our highly skilled employees who will deliver thousands of flight hours of training per year for our customer,” he said.

For over thirty years, aerial training and related services have been essential to the operations of the German Armed Forces. This new contract ensures the continuation and expansion of these vital training services.

This contract with the Bundeswehr strengthens QinetiQ’s presence in Germany and underscores its role in providing essential training services crucial for the operational readiness of modern armed forces.
