BAE Systems and the US Army have finalised a contract modification worth more than $390 million to upgrade additional Bradley Fighting Vehicles to the A4 configuration.
According to the release, the Bradley A4 will replace older variants and is intended to increase lethality, survivability and crew safety.
Bill Sheehy, who oversees ground manoeuvre products at BAE Systems, said “lethality, performance and next-generation capability is what the Bradley A4 brings to the fight” and argued that continued upgrades help ensure the Army has equipment suited for current operational demands.
He added that the award maintains production capacity across the firm’s manufacturing sites.
The company describes the Bradley A4 as part of the Army’s Armoured Brigade Combat Team structure. It cites updated electronics designed to improve situational awareness, network connectivity and communication within a brigade formation.
The work is being carried out with Red River Army Depot and involves a wide network of facilities in Aiken, Anniston, Minneapolis, San Jose, Sterling Heights and York. Production is already under way, and the company stated that first deliveries are scheduled for completion by October 2026.

I thought they were done with the bradley. A bit long in the tooth at this point, like the Warrior
As has been proved in Ukraine, they work, and work well.
And every tank that they’ve been built to fight has now been reduced to Scrap, now they just need to fight their predecessor’s (M113) Soviet Tanks… Suffice to say, there’s likely more chance a Bradley will end up in a war against another Western IFV.
Yeah they should be looking at Ajax…yes I know different but well you know.
That oversized “scout” vehicle? I wouldn’t wish that on even the Americans
but yeah what happened to Ajax sucks, the worst thing is that they lied about fixing it, which makes it hard to believe next time when they will say they fixed it for good
The US has difficulty in doing anything new because the generals and corrupt congressmen always insist on adding gold plate and photon torpedo’s
The Bradley itself experienced the same problems in the 80’s generating many books and even a funny movie called the Pentagon Wars.
After looking at the cluster f**k that is Ajax and General Dynamics I can’t blame the US Army for reverting back to a forty year old platform.
Pentagon Wars (both the book and the movie) was mostly false from what I’ve read about it. It was made by some clown in the us military that was pissy the bradley was approved since he didn’t like the idea of the vehicle and greatly exaggerated or outright lied about the production process of the vehicle.
And yet people still bang on about a 32 yr old design called CV90!
Look beyond the headlines these ‘new’ Bradley’s have better engines, updated armour and electronics etc and on the A4 E1 it comes with iron fist !
Cheaper than CV 90 as well.
The US army has spent over $20b on four separate programmes to replace Bradley. All cancelled.
Stryker armoured gun system scrapped as unsatisfactory. M10 Booker scrapped
DOD procurement looks even more chaotic than UKs
And when might the UK do the same and order some new tracked IFVs for the Army and not just be watching everyone else doing it?
It strikes me that the US is currently unable to design anything new?
