In a recent session of the House of Commons, Kenny MacAskill, MP for Alba, East Lothian, posed a question regarding the activities of the Royal Air Force (RAF) related to Israel.

The question was directed to the Secretary of State for Defence, seeking clarification on the purpose of each RAF-operated flight to Israel since 7 October 2023.

In response, Leo Docherty MP, Minister of State (Ministry of Defence) and Minister for the Armed Forces, provided the following answer:

“The purpose of the RAF-operated flights have included aircraft used to transport Ministers and senior officials conducting diplomatic engagements with Israel.”

British transport aircraft landing in Israel has comprised the C-17A Globemaster III and A400M Atlas C1, leading to speculation from some that the RAF are shipping weapons.

More likely we are shipping out surplus weapons from Israel and sending them to Ukraine. Where do people get the idea that Israel is short of kit. I suspect they have shed loads and the capacity to manufacture shed loads more.

I’m not sure how many Israeli Weapons have been passed on to Ukraine if any , the only one I can think of is the Tavor Rifle which may have been supplied prior to 2022.

It seems Israeli hasn’t given anything to Ukraine apart from humanitarian aid and some drone jamming equipment . Russia present in Syria being there main concern

If it’s for transport of diplomatic people why are they using C17 and A400? There’s actual passenger aircraft for people like the Airbus, voyager, envoy or how about normal commercial aircraft that us mere civilians all have to travel on.
Using a C17 to fly 1 or a few people on is a massive waste when commercial aircraft make the trip from London every day.
