NATO Allies including the United Kingdom have agreed to launch a new multinational project aimed at strengthening defence against ballistic missile threats, the alliance stated.
The initiative was announced on 12 February 2026 following a signing ceremony at NATO Headquarters, where NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska said the projects represented a key step towards meeting commitments made at the NATO 2025 Summit in The Hague.
Under the new High Visibility Project, seven Allies, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey and the United Kingdom, will cooperate on the development, acquisition and implementation of capabilities designed to enhance ballistic missile defence. NATO said this will include work on sensors, interceptors and tactical control systems, complementing existing Allied air and missile defence capabilities.
In an announcement, the Alliance stated the initiative responds to capability targets and national operational requirements within the Alliance’s Integrated Air and Missile Defence framework. The announcement formed part of a wider package of multinational capability cooperation initiatives, including a separate High Visibility Project involving Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Turkey focused on drone-based deep precision strike capabilities.
NATO also said fifteen Allies will explore multinational approaches to improving airworthiness resilience and interoperability during times of crisis or conflict, potentially covering design, modification, maintenance and repair solutions, as well as procedural adaptations to sustain air operations.
In addition, Sweden has joined NATO’s Air Battle Decisive Munitions High Visibility Project, bringing participation to 17 nations. NATO said the ABDM initiative supports the acquisition of essential air-launched munitions under more favourable conditions while improving interoperability among Allies.

Big mix of NASAMS, SAMP/T, CAMM and the Turkish systems in there.
How are they supposed to work on common interceptors?
Yeah another initiative, what happened to sky shield, weren’t all the same countries in that?
Just go out and buy two Arrow 3 batteries and six SAMP/T batteries. It will cost £5 billion and the entire UK will have comprehensive cover against IMRB and partial coverage against ICBM.
We will also have an anti satellite capability.
Just stop fannying around with initiatives
