BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc. has announced a partnership with Parsons Corporation to undertake modernisation tasks at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
The collaboration comes as BAE Systems is eyeing the prospect of being the chief operating contractor for the plant until 2035.
“Our team is committed to modernizing the Holston Army Ammunition Plant and delivering safe, reliable products for our customers,” stated John Swift, the vice president and general manager of BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc. He further emphasized the strengthened proposition they present with Parsons, citing “Parsons’ proven past performance, engineering staff depth and breadth, and proven ability to execute simultaneous complex projects.”
Recent accomplishments for Parsons include its selection by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to establish a new Explosive Decomposition Chamber at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
Additionally, Parsons secured the contract for the Energetic Waste Incinerator at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, another facility operated by BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc.
Hmmm…dunno…always preferred the cachet of the title Royal Ordnance. 🤔 Additionally, a helluva diverse product lineup before privitazation, anything from small arms ammo to nukes. Presumably had very interesting product brochures. 🤔😁
Land values of Royal ordnance sites was worth more than sale price . re- 462 million v sale price 190 million. Wonder who had shares in BAE ?
🤔👍
Good friend of mine told me only Saturday about how he walked into work at RO one day many, many years back to find they had doubled the size of his drawing board so he could draw up the plans for the Rarden cannon. Later he walked in and there was the real thing sitting there waiting for him. Them were the days eh. Just a housing estate, supermarket and museum now, though does have a Bren in the window to reflect its past.
Yes, mentioned in Wiki article. Frankly, believe privitazation may be a two-edged sword. 🤔
Sorry, the preceding text was intended to be a response to Simon.
… privatization…🙄
The nuclear parts of RO were passed to AWE before privatization, the tank factory went to Vickers
What & were is the Holston Army Ammunition Plant?
Wouldn’t you like to know my Russian troll, who lives in the Faroe islands….apparently. Go tell you’re handler the nasty people on UK defence journal refused to give you any information.
Hi Mr B, I’m just asking what the article is actually about as I’ve not heard of the place before & it doesn’t give much info. Just what is on open source mate(USA or UK plant?), I’ve no wish to risk national security by my honest enquiry! I’d run a mile if any Russian tried to handle me!
Mate, you’re talking about Mr Frost! Not Frank.
😂😂😱
I’m afraid google map will tell him lol,
Tennessee. A simply Wikipedia search will tell you more
Thanks DMJ. Rather obscure to the UK it seems. I hoped the article meant we might be sensibly upping UK ammo production in light of the rapid depletion of stocks donated to UKR.
Oh I think “we” meaning the UK is upping its ammunition production capacity. I’d sooner give technical details direct to the FSB then discuss any matters on this forum with you though Frank62 as I trust you about as far as I trust Mad Vlad himself- so that is less than zero.
I don’t know what has gotten into you Mr Bell but you’re being grossly offensive accusing me of being in any way supportive or part of Russian ops. If you’ve read my posts you’ll see I oppose Russian & Chinese goverments alike & support better UK armed forces. So stop with the trolling accusations based on your own imaginations. You are slandering me mate.
Your level of paranoia is striking.
That was all announced last month by MOD.
I think the hint is in the title “U S Ammunition plant upgrade”.
The article is a little misleading, unintentionally. Holston was built in WW2, is wholly owned by the US Government and controlled by the US Army. In fact, it’s categorized as a US Army Base. BAE has the management contract for the plant. There’s nothing sensitive or classified about it.
I really don’t understand this websites fetish with bae. it’s a multinational corporation. The purchased some things. Great deal of which are in the US. They don’t really actually own them. And if they think they do they can be taken back in about 15 minutes. But it makes some sort of splash on the website will I guess good for you. Content must be a little tight at the moment….
£90 million contract signed by MOD to supply Ukraine with vehicle mounted anti-drone system- Cortex Titan- which has ability to detect, track, engage and destroy drones using co-axial mounted weapon system- typically a GPMG or HMG but also potentially an ECM turret or fletchette net deploying system.
Wonder if the government are going to be as generous to British army and order some of these for our troops? desperately needed.
