BAE Systems Hägglunds and Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue the localisation and delivery of the BvS10 all-terrain vehicle to the Italian market, according to a statement issued today.
The agreement outlines a strategic collaboration focused on adapting and manufacturing the BvS10 in Italy, drawing on both companies’ technical strengths and the capabilities of the local workforce.
“We are proud to collaborate with Iveco Defence Vehicles to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Italian Armed Forces,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, General Manager of BAE Systems Hägglunds. “This partnership combines the technical expertise of both companies, ensuring the BvS10 is tailored to support Italy’s defence needs.”
IDV’s Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Catalano, added: “IDV is a longstanding partner for the Italian Army. With the agreement signed today, we will leverage the expertise, technological know-how and experience of IDV and BAE Systems to deliver the BvS10 to the Italian Army.”
The BvS10 is a highly mobile, armoured, articulated all-terrain vehicle capable of operating in some of the world’s harshest environments, including arctic, mountain, desert and amphibious conditions. Its modular design allows it to be configured for various missions such as troop transport, command and control, ambulance, logistics support, repair and recovery, and weapons carriage – including mortar systems.
Already in use with several NATO and allied forces, including Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and Ukraine, the BvS10 is considered a market leader in its class. The new collaboration is expected to facilitate Italy’s adoption of the platform while enhancing logistical and operational alignment with other European operators.
