The NATO Military Committee has concluded a three-day visit to the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) and the high-tech service provider IABG in Ulm, Germany, where senior officers discussed integrated air and missile defence, reinforcement logistics, and the Alliance’s readiness priorities, NATO stated.

The visit brought together military representatives from across the Alliance and members of the International Military Staff to review operational and strategic issues central to NATO’s deterrence and defence posture.

On the first day, committee members received briefings on Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD).

According to NATO, the exercise and scenario discussions were intended to deepen understanding of the strategic implications of IAMD, which the Alliance considers a continuous mission in peace, crisis, and conflict to protect Allied populations, territory, and forces from air and missile threats.

During the second day, the committee visited JSEC, where briefings covered the command’s capabilities, future priorities, and the complexities of the Reinforcement and Sustainment Network, a core element of NATO’s logistics and rapid response framework.

“NATO needs to move further and faster to meet the growing threats we face. The Allied capabilities must and will grow in order to fulfil our defence plans,” said Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. “Consequently, we need to enhance our enabling capabilities, such as logistics, supply, transportation, and medical support, in order to be able to move and to sustain hundreds of thousands of soldiers and equipment.”

Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider, Commander of JSEC, said the command continues to strengthen its ability to support operations across Europe. “We have made significant strides in our ability to enable SACEUR’s Area of Responsibility,” he said. “Whilst we, as a headquarters, have successfully transitioned to the NATO Command Structure, there remains more work ahead of us, collectively with all NATO nations.”
