Counter Terrorism Policing North West has arrested a thirty one year old man at Manchester Airport in connection with the 2 October attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, the police stated.

The man was detained after arriving on an inbound flight and is being questioned on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism. Police said this brings the number of arrests linked to the investigation to seven.

One man arrested on 9 October on suspicion of failing to disclose information remains on bail.

The attack killed Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz. Three others were seriously injured, and two have since been discharged from hospital.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said “officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West arrested a 31 year old man in connection with the appalling terrorist attack that took place at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.” He added that families of those killed and injured have been informed of the development.

Potts said the investigation continues and urged anyone with information to come forward. He also appealed for witnesses to identify themselves so police can ensure they have access to welfare support. He asked potential witnesses or those with relevant information to use the Major Incident Public Portal or call the dedicated number provided by the force.
