Nine soldiers plan to sue the Ministry of Defence after a Voyager jet nose-dived 4,400ft when the captain’s camera got stuck in the flight controls.

The Voyager jet was six hours into a flight from RAF Brize Norton to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan when the camera lodged between an arm rest and a control lever and in the next 27 seconds the jet plummeted 4,400ft. According to some reports, the crew and passengers were bashed against the roof of the cabin.

Rhicha Kapila at the law firm Bolt Burdon Kemp, is reportedly representing eight men and two women against the MoD who they argue ‘breached its duty of care’.

Miss Kapila told the Sunday Times:

“Some of them assumed the plane was being shot down over Afghanistan. Personal items were being propelled to the back of the plane, passengers were screaming, lots of them were crying, they could hear people saying, “Please don’t let me die.” It was a state of chaos and very frightening.”

Voyager is based on the modern Airbus A330-200 passenger aircraft and, in conjunction with the Boeing C-17A Globemaster III fleet, provides the RAF with Strategic Air Transport and Aeromedical capability.

In addition, Voyager is an extremely effective Air-to-Air Refuelling asset, which is utilised to enable a variety of RAF aircraft to operate for extended periods.

  1. So,it seems that battle can’t be that scary after all.
I suppose that in this day and age we should be grateful that this ambulance chasing scum could only get 8 passengers to demean themselves by signing up for this shameful action.

  2. Presumably the litigants have been left with ‘life changing injuries’.. .
Without further detail, its very hard not to see this as simply preposterous in the extreme.
