A 23-year-old man from Hull has been charged with multiple terrorism offences following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East supported by Humberside Police.
Mikka Anderson appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with preparing acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2006, possessing articles for a terrorist purpose and possessing information likely to be useful for committing or preparing an act of terrorism. He also faces a charge of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
The charges follow his arrest on 26 February as part of what police described as a pre-planned, intelligence-led operation. Officers also searched a residential property in Hull during the investigation.
A 23-year-old woman arrested on the same day has since been released without charge. Anderson has been remanded in custody and is due to appear next at the Central Criminal Court on 27 March.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said the investigation had been extensive. “Public safety remains our number one priority at all times. An extensive and thorough investigation has led to an individual being charged today.”
He added that police would continue working with local partners to respond to potential threats. “The public’s support is vital to our mission to keep people safe. If you hear or see anything that doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and report it in confidence.”

Good to see the hometown getting its numbers up.
