British Army artillery is working alongside allies on a major artillery exercise in Germany.

Some 900 troops and more than 300 vehicles from 1st Artillery Brigade units are taking part in Exercise Dynamic Front in Grafenwoehr, southern Germany. The US Army Europe-led training involves 3,700 participants from 26 NATO and partner nations.

The gunners are working side-by-side with their international partners across all artillery capabilities, from identifying strategic targets to tactical units firing guns in the field. A key aim, say the British Army, is to develop digital communications to allow different nations gunnery systems to become compatible with each other, which should enable faster, more-effective fire missions.

Units taking part include 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, firing the AS90 155mm self-propelled gun, 105mm Light Gun and Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS).

The Ministry of Defence say that the exercise has demonstrated the British Army’s ability to deploy troops and equipment swiftly and efficiently hundreds of miles from their bases in the UK to participate in the training.

Sadly no mention that elements of 32 Regt RA are also deployed on this exercise.
