In a groundbreaking agreement, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf have unveiled a plan for the Govan area of Glasgow to become an English constituency, designating it as an official part of England, to ensure warship building continues should Scotland decide to leave the UK.

The deal is understood to be similar to preparations for the COP26 summit, in which Glasgow’s Scottish Events Campus (SEC) was officially handed over to the United Nations (UN) for the duration of the event.

    • Doesn’t mean it’s not true. Britain stood up its Space Force on 1st of April and I had terrible trouble getting the folks down the pub to believe me, with them asking, why do we need a Space Force? To take control of Sky Net, I answered, to roars of laughter.

  1. A few things

that was brilliant but it’s actual got a couple of geopolitical hand grenades in there.

    1) it’s would not be English it would be a United Kindgom overseas territory…I’m not going into the full “Scotland leaving the Union” and the reasons why it would not change the name “United Kingdom” but it would not. We must never ever trade our name away even on an April fool

    1) Now the thing is I bet there possibly would be some horse trading around some bits possible becoming United Kingdom overseas territory especially something as important as HMNB-Clyde…the UK would need to base its Deterrent somewhere..Scotland would want to be part of NATO and it’s likely the UK and US would likely veto a Scottish jointing that had just pulled the plug on 50% or NATOs European based Nuclear deterrent.

    • You have just sooked the fun out of this article. I bet you’re a scream at a party.
I’m not sure why you think Scotland would cede any territory to England. They’ve held, and gained from it, for long enough. If anything, we should be entering into the negotiations with a claim to Berwick and the Isle of Man.

  2. Oh this has really made my day, I’ve just bought a house right outside the main gate. Deep joy. 😎

  3. As an April Fools Days joke its a new one but to be honest that might actually be an option that legitimately might be something the British government might consider

    • Yes well assuming one day the Scots decide to have independence this might move things along a bit. Saying we need to wait until we move everything out of Scotland (or wait for world peace) might mean this sort of thing is a price worth paying. It worked in Cyprus didn’t it.

  4. Wow, what will the SNP think of next? Haggis from Hampshire; Kilts from Kent; Whiskey from Wales…you would think it was April Fool’s.
    Nice one George😉

    • Well the Welsh claim they invented Whiskey/Whisky, tartan as we them originated in Windsor via Queen Victoria who had a fetish for such things and as we all know bagpipes entered England from North Africa before migrating to Scotland so not far off I guess.

  5. Great idea as Rangers FC is based in Govan . Shouldn’t be a problem now for them to apply for EPL membership

  6. Surely any irrational dictator would recognise the People’s Democratic Republic of Govan within the boundary of a sovereign nation. Just one fake referendum away…

  7. This means the whole work force will don kilts and jump into the nearest fountain on New Year’s Eve.

  8. Wow, then would allow them then to overtake nearly 2/3 of Scotland as the lands north are under MOD ownership if I am not mistaken or maybe I am for training purposes, cold weather / air space,/ special forces,/ commando / even the yanks In the far northern Shetland Orkney’s used for weapons testing not sure the UK. GOV intentions are what they say they are.
no offense meant or implied just where would that stop as a matter of interest..??
