A Royal Air Force Typhoon operating from Qatar has shot down an Iranian drone heading towards Qatari territory, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
In a statement, the MOD said the incident took place on 1 March 2026 and involved a Typhoon from the joint UK–Qatar Typhoon Squadron.
“On 1 March 2026, a Royal Air Force Typhoon operating from Qatar as part of the joint UK–Qatar Typhoon Squadron, successfully took out an Iranian drone heading towards Qatari territory.”
According to the department, the aircraft was conducting a defensive air patrol at the time and engaged the drone using an air-to-air missile.
“The Typhoon jet was conducting a defensive air patrol and used an air-to-air missile to shoot down the drone, ensuring the security of Qatar’s airspace and British interests in the region.”
The MOD added that UK forces continue to operate in the region as part of wider defensive measures.
“Our Armed Forces are playing a vital role to protect our people, our interests and our Allies.”
Apparently they’ve now hit a few more, from various rumours/reporting.
Good thing there’s several British warships providing air defence in the area…many thanks to the governments of the 2000s/2010s in particular for fucking up the destroyer procurement.

Good show and some other goods in the last hour. UK, France and Germany have now announced they will potentially take part in defensive strikes on Iran thanks to their blatant hostility against neighbouring countries (including the attack on the french naval base)

As for defensive strikes, surely even having half a brain it is obvious these Countries would retain the right to strike at any offensive capability responsible for putting their bases, citizens and allies at risk. Calculated response to attacks is clearly different to initiating attacks as a choice. Stop trying to make the obvious look like a submitting to US will when we have defence agreements with these Countries that would reserve those rights.

It’s becoming almost critical now to send a Type 45 to the Middle East.
We have an air base very close there is no need to send PoW, however a Type 45 would bring a huge capability there.
So now we have American soldiers killed and Iran rejecting Trump as he looks weak seen begging for a ceasefire, and some want Britain getting involved. The body bags are not going to go down well with the US public. Let’s hope this can be contained but it’s looking like Trump has mis calculated on just how long term and dangerous this conflict may become.
