Saab say it has developed a new type of camouflage called ARCASe (Advanced Reversible Camouflage Screen emissive), with the first briefing on the new product at the annual Barracuda User Group at DSEI, London.
The company say that the ARCASe offers true multispectral protection and gives the user complete protection, even in changeable environments.
ARCASe is the first reversible thermal pattern camouflage system from Saab. It protects vehicles or other assets by masking and disrupting their thermal signature to blend in with the background.
The ARCASe’s visible pattern is reversible which means it has different colours on each side allowing the user to choose which is most effective without comprising the thermal protection.
“Saab has a long and distinguished history in development of camouflage systems. The ARCASe is our best camouflage for use in broken terrain and is a valuable addition to our broad camouflage portfolio,” says Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab business area Dynamics.
According to the company:
“Saab’s advanced camouflage technology products have been exported to more than 50 countries. Saab offers a unique package of camouflage systems and force protection solutions developed to limit an enemy’s ability to detect and engage. Various solutions and configurations are available to protect camps, vehicles as well as individual personnel in any type of terrain or environment.”
nothing to see here…..
If the commenting system allowed “likes” you’d have mine!
It’s probably about time we reviewed our cam con efforts and go rid of the highly flammable, black and green shite. The desert one works better even in the UK but still so flammable it’s bordering on dangerous
Hi Rise,
Something like this?

Pretty sure that competition/challenge was designed to do what Saab have just gone and done

The amusing thing is those crappy cam nets, a high proportion are put together in a number of HMPs by prisoners. It is called recycling in the prison, and is part of the legal requirement for prisoners to do a minimum of 6 hours work, /education per day. Most amusing is one of the prisons is a FNO (foreign national offener) prison and the guys putting them together consist of just about every nationally we have had a recent conflict with!
Something so basic, but can make a key difference in an actual shooting match… Unlikely to be adopted by the British Army though as it would be seen as too easy to roll out at very short notice if an actual need arose… won’t get that past the penny pinchers unless it’s desperately needed unfortunately!
Looks great, was the anti infa-red dye used by the UK millitary any good?
I agree with Propellerman, I simply can’t see what they are talking about!
The Ajax vehicles use SAAB Barracuda thermal protection cam. Its applied to the vehicle so is mobile.
I expect that the ‘Ajax’ team scoured the world looking for that product!
