HMS Grimsby’s dive team have been practising on the River Clyde.

The vessel also made an appearance whilst I was getting married yesterday, so that’s cool.

HMS Grimsby’s role

HMS Grimsby is a Mine Counter Measures Vessel (MCMV). The Royal Navy say that the vessel maintains freedom of navigation on the high seas, “vital to the UK international trade – by keeping international shipping lanes open”.

She has a crew of 38, the majority of whom have done multiple deployments to the Middle East and Europe to work alongside NATO Allies.

“Over the past five years she has had seven different crews and visited over 18 different countries, working tirelessly to maintains freedom of navigation on the high seas by keeping international shipping lanes open.”

I can remember parting with £4000 for my DUI Drysuit + for UK winter diving, the shock of adjusting your mask when the cold water hits your face is an experience you can do without!

Congrats George and good luck.

RN sends Sandown class minehunter to grace UKJD editor’s wedding. Quite right too. I hope there was also a fly past and some kind of gun salute. Congratulations.

A C-130 did fly over at low level. I’m going to pretend it was for us.

Congrats George! All the very best to both of you. Had it been up to me, you’d have a QE class carrier render honours on your wonderful day. Than you for your splendid wok on this site – consistent quality content and commentary on this site.
