A lot of weird things can occur in Australia’s capital but this happens to be one of the more stranger things to happen when it comes to embassy security, the Russian embassy is pictured above.

Yes – the title of this article is real and this did really happen.

At 6am on the 5th August in Canberra, Australia, a 26 year old man was arrested with bolt cutters and a screwdriver in his bag. He had entered the Russian Embassy in order to steal a child’s BMX from a shed on the grounds. Authorities claim that the man was high on methamphetamine at the time of the break in.

He has since been charged with burglary, attempted theft and being equipped with articles for intent to commit a theft. When appearing in court he was crying and agitated and told the court that he could not remember making his way into the embassy grounds. He will face court on Tuesday.

Authorities have had to deal with a variety of different security situations over the years from people attempting to enter embassy grounds as part of protests or other potential plots but this has to be one of the weirder situations that authorities in the nations capital have had to deal with in recent years.
