The Ministry of Defence has launched preliminary market engagement for Project SENSOREM, an effort to deliver scalable surveillance and security capability across Defence sites.
A notice published by Defence Equipment and Support on 12 May 2026 invites proposals from industry to deliver what the MoD describes as “a scalable and sustainable Defence site surveillance capability” as part of “a wider MOD effort to improve site protection and critical infrastructure through the integration of modern, technology enabled security solutions.”
The engagement deadline is 11 June 2026, with a tender notice also estimated for publication on the same date. The estimated contract period runs from September 2026 to September 2029.
The notice makes clear that the preliminary market engagement does not constitute a commitment to proceed with a formal procurement. The MoD has stated that the process will be managed “in an open and transparent manner, ensuring that participation or non-participation in the Preliminary Market Engagement will not give advantages or disadvantages to any supplier, nor impact their eligibility for future procurement processes.”
All information provided by respondents will be treated as commercially sensitive.
Suppliers wishing to participate are asked to submit responses in PDF format to a dedicated MoD commercial mailbox by close of play on 11 June 2026, with late submissions subject to rejection at the authority’s sole discretion.

How about reversing the cuts on Modplod install security cameras etc and employ people who will be around for a lot longer that a couple of years where the whole contract looks like it will go out to tender again! This way all yo will get is a few bods with an SAI license and no interest in the job whatsoever!
Defo mate, they miss that detail out. I made a recent FOIA request to the MDP at Wyton concerning withdrawals at of staff certain places, and they refused most of my questions, only commenting on a couple. Refusals often had the classic –
” Would have a detrimental effect on the security and effectiveness of the armed forces” is a trait associated with HMG, NOT answering to a concerned, curious, nosy, and interested individual like me.
““a scalable and sustainable Defence site surveillance capability” as part of “a wider MOD effort to improve site protection and critical infrastructure through the integration of modern, technology enabled security solutions.”
This interests me, as the highest security measures at certain locations are provided by the SSG – Security Services Group ( now SSG Guardian, apparently ) which is an in house MoD organisation that acts like the MoDs version of the FCDO’s NACE – National Authority on Counter Eavesdropping, so, a NACE on the highest security measures.
So I hope this isn’t the result of the usual removal of inhouse capability and handing out to private hands.
I’ve gained $17,240 only within four weeks by comfortably working part-time from home. Immediately when I had lost my last business, I was very troubled and thankfully I’ve located this project now in this way I’m in a position to receive thousand USD directly from home. Each individual certainly can do this easy work & make more greenbacks online by visiting

No power to detain/arrest anybody breaking in! I’m sorry to say it but you only have to look about at your average ‘security’ guard and they don’t exactly fill you with confidence do they? Plus the contract will go to the lowest bidder who will have no incentive to make anything better due to the cost! More money down the drain when it could be done properly.
Correct.
UMH, police officers?
The fencers at the base I work at are in a dire state.
So no ‘lesson’s learnt’ after Brize Norton! What a shocker🙄
It’s only a small airfield, but they see RAF on the sign; nothing good can come from having fence issues.
I imagine on a small airfield, and I can visualise a few examples now, one could pretty much walk in at the barrier at the gate, it might not even be manned.
At the other end of the spectrum, the most sensitive locations do have high security, including multiple fences of areas within, cctv, MDP, and so on.
Just not enough.
This will be due to the protestors disabling the refiling aircraft in the RAF bases with almost no fencing. Very embarrassing.
I recommend the Amsta system in the military version with integration with effectors, e.g. mines, etc.

this is just an idea chaps….
what if the military formed their own national defence & security and use the service personnel whey they retire, i.e. they go into reserve defence security .
and protect our bases and other defence hide away. this way you gat a reserve force of trained military staff train to defend or [shoot if required ]
just an idea we must have thousands each year retiring.
just an idea….
It already exists.
It’s called the MPGS.
It guards most Army, RN, and RAF locations.
The MoD Police do not.
I’d subcontract the RAF Regiment to the RAF Bases… Fully costed plan for 40 bases worth of security with 12 Men and vehicles, paid properly for Nighttime rates in Construction, so it’s already more generous, but it came in as per year less than £27 million, which funnily enough costs the same as a A330-MRTT Rolls Royce Trent 700 engine.
It presumes 12x Men paid £100 per night shift, provided 3 vehicles, one out and about, another ready to go, third also ready, but the crew is on Cameras or making a meal/having a poo.
Included the vehicles, they could be the LRs or the White Fleet of vehicles the MOD lease en masse.
But then the RAF Regiment exists to deploy with deployed RAF aviation assets.
If you use the RAF Reg just for home RAF Stations ( I hate the term “base” for the RAF ) who deploys with the FP Wings?
I think a bigger RAuxAF Regiment is needed, and more MPGS.
Mpgs mate we have them at larkhill
Probably will award Huawei the contract
Give the contract to Serco or G4S, what could go wrong.
What’s happened to the RMP?
The RMP don’t guard installations.
So, they want … ‘scaleable’ fences?
Why bother, just put a gap in the fence line and a ‘Welcome All’ sign. 😉
Pretty pathetic, as is to be expected.
Would it not be better to have more serving military that handle the bulk of things like security, cleaning minor maintenance around bases instead of going to private contractors for everything!, This is I am betting one of the many ways we waste so much money
Security at bases should be provided by military personnel, this is just nonsense.
Security at bases should be provided by military personnel, this is just nonsense.
You’d have to massively expand the military then. As most security is conducted by the MoD Guard Service, including CCTV surveillance and some MWD capability.
The rest is the province of the MDP.
Both non military.
The only military I’m aware of involved in such at certain places are the RAF Police, 43 Commando RM, and the reservists of the MPGS.
You can add soldiers on stag on the barriers of certain places as well.
If we make it all military, who and what gives regards the expeditionary capability of the military?
