The Swedish Armed Forces have confirmed that a Russian drone was observed taking off from the Russian signals intelligence vessel Zhigulevsk in the Öresund, during the visit of the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to Malmö.

In a statement, Försvarsmakten said: “The Swedish Armed Forces can now confirm that a Russian drone was observed taking off from the Russian signals intelligence vessel Zhigulevsk in the Öresund. The incident occurred in connection with Charles de Gaulle’s visit to Malmö, and the Navy acted swiftly to jam the drone.”

The confirmation follows earlier reporting that a drone had been jammed near the French nuclear-powered carrier while she was alongside in Malmö ahead of a NATO exercise. Swedish forces observed the suspected drone on Wednesday in the Öresund Strait, approximately 13 kilometres from Charles de Gaulle, and deployed a navy vessel to disrupt it.

Sweden’s Defence Minister Pål Jonson told broadcaster SVT on Thursday that the drone “probably” came from Russia, citing the presence of a Russian military vessel in the immediate vicinity at the time. On Friday, Sweden’s military confirmed that the drone had indeed launched from the Russian signals intelligence ship.

The Kremlin had earlier described suggestions of Russian involvement as “absurd”, after Stockholm indicated there was a strong link to Moscow. The incident took place during a period of heightened allied naval activity in the Baltic region, with Charles de Gaulle transiting north en route to participate in a NATO exercise.

  1. Use the SMART radar on the De Gaulle to burn the drone to pieces and then target that beam at the intelligence ship and all its electronics. Ask a Daring to add to the effort to burn the electronics on board the intelligence ship.

Although, that is not enough. Direct a laser at any visible Russian scumbag on-onboard and scour their eyes out; Russians understand one thing, and being nice is not the answer.

Best Russian scumbag is a dead Russian scumbag.
