Fourteen NATO allies along with Finland and Sweden have over 45 ships, 75 aircraft and 7,500 personnel deployed to the Baltic.
Participating nations include Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These countries will exercise a range of capabilities demonstrating the inherent flexibility of maritime forces.”
Exercise scenarios include amphibious operations, gunnery, anti-submarine, air defence, mine clearance operations, explosive ordnance disposal, unmanned underwater vehicles, and medical response.
BALTOPS 22 takes place in Sweden, and coincides with the 500th anniversary of the Swedish Navy. NATO also add that BALTOPS 22 features more robust medical response scenarios, specifically during personnel recovery training aboard a submarine.
That’s quite a list of countries. Interesting that Turkey has deployed a ship all the way to the Baltic for this exercise especially since they must be pretty concerned about what is going on in the Black Sea right now.
All in all another very clear message to Putin, “wrong move sunshine, wrong move..!”
Cheers CR
