BAE Systems has been awarded an $85 million production contract by the U.S. Navy to deliver additional Network Tactical Common Data Link (NTCDL) systems.
These systems will enhance the U.S. Navy’s situational awareness and tactical battlefield capabilities by enabling real-time and simultaneous networked operations across air, surface, and subsurface platforms.
The NTCDL systems, currently being installed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and slated for integration on Constellation-class frigates, facilitate secure, real-time exchanges of voice, data, imagery, and full-motion video.
Amber Dolan, Director of Adaptive Communications and Sensing at BAE Systems, stressed the importance of the system, stating, “We have designed and produced a faster next-generation system to meet the demands of our customers’ evolving connectivity mission requirements. BAE Systems is committed to providing the U.S. Navy with a trusted and secure solution to transmit and receive the critical information needed to successfully accomplish its missions across the fleet.”
NTCDL is a modular and scalable multi-platform solution designed to support all U.S. Navy Common Data Link (CDL) requirements. It allows operators to simultaneously transmit and receive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance data from multiple sources while exchanging command and control information across independent networks. By embracing waveform evolution and increasing link capacity, the system ensures effective communication among manned and unmanned platforms, offering a critical tactical advantage.
This latest award extends BAE Systems’ existing contract with the U.S. Navy by three years.
Work on the contract will be carried out at BAE Systems’ facilities in Maryland, Colorado, New Jersey, and New York.
