Saab has secured two major orders from Airbus Defence and Space to supply its Arexis electronic warfare suite for German Eurofighters, the UK Defence Journal understands.

The combined value is about EUR 549 million, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2028, the company stated.

According to Saab, the first order continues the March 2024 contract that began integration of Arexis on the Eurofighter EK (Elektronischer Kampf), valued at roughly EUR 291 million.

The second, worth about EUR 258 million, brings in AI technology developed jointly by Saab and its partner Helsing and remains subject to authority approval.

Saab describes Arexis as one of the most advanced digital electronic warfare sensor and jamming suites available. Micael Johansson, Saab’s President and CEO, said in the announcement that “Arexis is one of the most advanced fully digital sensors and jamming systems available on the market. The system will improve the Eurofighter’s situational awareness and survivability on the modern battlefield.”

He added that the deal “further strengthens the Swedish-German cooperation.”

The Eurofighter EK programme is intended to give the Luftwaffe a dedicated electronic attack capability, and the new orders expand the scope and scale of that effort, according to the company.
