Avantus Federal, now known as QinetiQ US, has been awarded a five-year, $224 million firm-fixed price contract by the Space Development Agency (SDA).

The contract aims to provide systems engineering and technical support to “accelerate the development of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA)”, a space-based capability primarily focused in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

This architecture is designed to offer resilient tactical support to joint warfighters in terrestrial missions.

According to the release, the contract “will provide engineering and technical analysis, management and professional services and acquisition support to SDA.” The objective is to quickly develop, field, and operate the PWSA.

Steve Iwicki, Executive Vice President over QinetiQ US’ space initiatives and Defense Technologies and Solutions portfolio, stated, “We have been fully committed to ensuring we are providing the right technical solutions to enhance mission success and to continue to provide the full life cycle support we’ve been partnering with SDA on – from requirements generation to launch operations.”
