The exercises form part of the overhaul effort aimed at developing the tactics and determining the equipment needed to turn the Royal Marines into the “Future Commando Force”.
HMS Albion hosted a Littoral Strike Group capability demonstration for the VIP’s of Cyprus whilst on deployment in the Mediterranean.
Numerous stances were set up onboard showcasing HMS Albion’s capabilities from diving apparatus to a close quarter combat demonstration by the Royal Marines.
According to the Royal Navy:
“More than one thousand sailors and Royal Marines have sailed on a three-month mission to the Mediterranean to forge the commando forces of tomorrow. The deployment is intended to test new concepts of the Littoral Strike Group (which replaces the UK’s long-standing amphibious task group) and shapes the Future Commando Force (FCF) – the evolution of the Royal Marines into a hi-tech raiding/strike force – both of which are at the heart of the transformation of the Royal Navy as it enters the 2020s.
The group will also support NATO’s Mediterranean security operation Sea Guardian – alongside new patrol ship HMS Trent which is now permanently based in the region – and provide options for the UK to respond to any potential crisis in the area.”
Known as the Littoral Response Group (Experimentation) deployment, the force includes the headquarters and staff of Commodore Rob Pedre, the Commander Littoral Strike Group, flagship HMS Albion, destroyer HMS Dragon and amphibious support ship RFA Lyme Bay.

Really interested on the NLOS spike missile fitted the to the Sa’ar 62. Looks like a very cost effective weapon for use over the water

Hi Airborne, I Assumed it was but wasn’t sure if it was 1 of the UORs that got binned after Afghan. Got to see some launches when I done facilities work at BATUS, impressive watching them arc up into the sky never go to see the impact though? also must be a reasonable piece of you just praised it.
