Saab has received an order worth approximately SEK 2.6 billion from Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration for a mobile counter-unmanned aerial system designed to protect both military forces and civilian infrastructure from drone threats, the company stated.
Deliveries of the system are planned for 2027 to 2028. The order covers a modular, mobile platform designed to detect and neutralise low-flying small to medium-sized drones. Saab said the system integrates its own sensors and effectors alongside selected third-party technologies into a single interoperable solution that can connect with existing defence assets.
Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s Surveillance business area, was quoted as saying: “With today’s order Sweden will acquire an advanced mobile, modular counter-unmanned aerial system. This technology enhances airspace security by detecting, tracking, and mitigating unmanned aerial threats, and can be easily integrated with other systems.”
Saab said the system is built on established components and described it as fully operational and ready for deployment. The company said it has been developed in partnership with the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV to strengthen and complement Sweden’s existing air defence and drone defence posture, according to the announcement.
