The U.S. Navy has relieved Commander Sarah M. Quemada of her role as Commanding Officer of Naval Information Warfare Training Group (NIWTG) Norfolk, citing a loss of confidence in her ability to command.

The decision was made on 16 January 2025 by Rear Admiral Brian A. Harding, Commander of the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center.

According to the Navy’s statement, the decision reflects the service’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards for its commanding officers, ensuring accountability when those standards are not met.

“The Navy maintains the highest standards for commanding officers and holds them accountable when those standards are not met,” the official statement read.

NIWTG Norfolk is a subordinate command under the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. The unit plays a key role in developing and delivering information warfare training to ensure the Navy remains operationally ready in an increasingly complex digital and cyber battlespace.

In the interim, Captain Steve McIntyre has been temporarily assigned as Commanding Officer of NIWTG Norfolk until a permanent replacement is named. Meanwhile, Commander Quemada, who assumed command in June 2023, has been reassigned to Naval Information Forces.

Yes, it’s an old picture that was taken due to an odd and unusually noteworthy operational aberration where a lot of carriers were in Newport News at the same time; some decommissioned, some in refit, some in maintenance and others simply stopping by. Americans love to chest beat over the picture but most fail to realise it isn’t really a reflection of US Navy strength (not that I am casting aspersions on the US Navy which of course is the world’s premier, and by a long way)

Looking very likely that Norway will choose the Type 26 for there new frigate. Both defence secretaries have announced they are working on a new defence agreement and are going to strengthen defence and security cooperation. The norwegian defence secretary also called the UK Norways closest European ally.

I think the genuine military people like him as he’s getting away from the woke madness. I mean would milley or Austen give you any confidence if you were on the front lines ?

Yeah, they would. Unlike President Bone Spurs.

Are you for real? Milley was a combat diver and special forces commander, and Austin won the Silver Star leading his division in the capture of Baghdad. They would give me confidence; Trump would give me indigestion.

The confidence of Afghanistan disaster evacuation?
That was an operational disaster that many in military were responsabile.

He also destroyed retention and new troop numbers with his racist and marxist bs.
Maybe you should look at his chest and compare to Eisenhower’s and see how things changed to make US Army a narcisist endeavour. That part obviously not his fault it came before him.

Perhaps not, because loss of confidence implies initial confidence?

They are purging the military just like Obama/Biden did. Nothing new.

Who did Obama & Biden purge? I can appreciate that senior commanders need to enjoy the executive’s confidence if they are to be of any use.

One have to be careful with his responsibility on top of that must placed watch men constantly in these waters & not to depends only on electronic devices ,radar e t c !!! If the captain failed short or not equal to his responsibility then that will be determined by the Navy department after proper inspection & investigation !!!

Whats wrong with US navy? If a carriership can be hit by a merchant ship at sea it means the ship crew not working properly or the radar function failed! I wonder if the merchant ship filled with bombs…..its show how easy to attack the us fleet

She really was one of the guys and this has more to do with a legitimate request for clarification of jurisdiction on proceedings that are not meant to be Conesus based and ripple down to great consequence. she has others who backed her with more stripes at risk than hers and if they are to meet the same fate it will lead to further diminishment for the Premier service on this small globe.

Ok that statement is absolute nonsense explained nothing about the loss of confidence. Are people that easily fooled. I miss the days when people actually cared about anything and everything
