Russia will deliver 46 Kamov Ka-52 attack helicopters for the Egyptian Navy’s Mistral helicopter carriers.

The contract for the supply of Kamov Ka-52 helicopters to Egypt was signed with Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheyev general director of the holding Russian Helicopters has said in the holding’s corporate magazine:

“A big contract for the supply of 46 Kamov Ka-52 Alligator helicopters has been signed with Egypt by JSC Rosoboronexport.”

The Ka-52 Alligator is a reconnaissance and attack helicopter designed to destroy tanks, armoured and non-armoured ground targets, enemy troops and helicopters. Deliveries are planned between 2016-2018.

The Egyptian Ka-52s are reportedly to be equipped with a new targeting system allowing them to launch Vikhr and Ataka anti-tank missiles using laser target direction systems.

  1. Russia actually put these up for export? I’d wondered what had been happening with the Kamov Crocodile and Aligator gunships.
    very well armored, reliable and with a operational payload to make most modern Gunships green with envy… it will be interesting to see how Egypt uses them
