The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight drew huge crowds to Ayr’s Low Green, where a UK Defence Journal team member documented the atmosphere through a set of striking photographs.
Their work gives a sense of the scale of the event and the collective excitement of people gathered on the shoreline to watch aircraft thunder overhead.
The flying programme featured a range of displays that kept attention fixed on the skies. The United States Air Force C-130J Super Hercules was a major attraction, giving a full performance after last year’s brief flypast.
The Red Arrows returned to enthusiastic applause, while the RAF Typhoon made its presence felt with speed and noise that reverberated across the seafront.
Other parts of the programme brought variety, with historic aircraft, trainers, and helicopters joining the schedule alongside visiting international teams.
Each brought its own character to the weekend, adding layers of interest for long-time aviation fans as well as those attending for the first time.
On the ground, the Festival Village added colour and activity to the occasion. Food and market stalls, entertainment zones, and a funfair created a steady flow of movement away from the flight line.
