Thousands of Airbus employees represented by Unite have voted to accept a new pay and pension agreement, halting plans for industrial action.

The deal, reached after extended negotiations between Unite officials and Airbus management, provides a 3.6 per cent pay rise, a £500 one-off payment, and improved pension contributions from the employer.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said:

“I’m pleased that our members stood together and by doing so they have achieved this improved deal that sees increases to their pay and pensions. It is nothing less than their skill and determination deserves.”

The union confirmed that the agreement covers a one-year period and also secures significant enhancements to pension schemes.

Unite national officer for aerospace Rhys McCarthy added: “We welcome the outcome of the ballot and are pleased that industrial action will now be avoided. This agreement reflects the hard work and commitment of our members while supporting the company’s long-term stability.”

The decision ends the prospect of strike disruption at Airbus sites, with Unite presenting the settlement as a balance between rewarding workers and ensuring the company’s ongoing resilience.
