BAE Systems has received a $195 million contract for the production of 30 additional Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs) for the U.S. Marine Corps.

The award covers additional ACV-30 variants and brings the total number of ACV-30s ordered under the contract to more than 150, according to BAE Systems.

The ACV-30 is equipped with a 30mm cannon and is intended to provide increased firepower for engaging targets at range. BAE Systems said the ACV family is designed as a next-generation platform to improve mobility, survivability and adaptability in amphibious operations.

Rebecca McGrane, vice president of Amphibious Vehicles at BAE Systems, said: “This award highlights the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment with the U.S. Marine Corps to equip forces with the capabilities they need to succeed.” She added: “The additional ACVs keep the program aligned with operational requirements so that Marines are ready for any mission.”

BAE Systems adds that it is currently under contract for the ACV-Personnel (ACV-P) and ACV-Command (ACV-C) variants. The company stated that the ACV-P can carry 13 combat-loaded Marines plus a three-person crew, while the ACV-C provides multiple workstations to support command and control functions.

The company also said it has built and delivered three ACV-Recovery (ACV-R) production representative test vehicles. According to BAE Systems, the ACV-R will provide maintenance, recovery and repair capability in support of Marine Assault Amphibian units, with the government responsible for design and integration of the crane at Anniston Army Depot. Work under the ACV-30 contract will take place in Johnstown and York, Pennsylvania, and in Charleston, South Carolina, where turret integration work is being carried out by the U.S. government, the company stated.
